Afghan MPs warn the deteriorated security confronting the upcoming Afghan polls in Aug
Afghan key elections are ahead but insecurity has risen concerns whether to hold a peaceful and transparent polls.
Khalid Pahtun, MP representing Kandahar, the Taliban birthplace, said the situation has remained unchanged and it’s tremendously risky for the ordinary citizens to go to the ballot boxes.
Afghan Member of the Parliament warned the people would be deprived of their right to vote as insurgency is still a top challenge.
“Security officials have pledged us to pave the ground for the elections, IEC spokesman Zakria Barikzai said.
“Let’s see how they can provide security for the elections.”
Afghan Independent Election Commission says they have failed to provide voter cards to residents of ten districts across the country.
“I have not received a voter card, because here was no registration centres,” said Allah Noor, 35, a resident of Nooristan Province.
In the second-ever round of Afghan elections, security still tackling the transparency of votes.
More than fifty well-known Afghan figures have shown interest to contend in the polls which will be held in 20 August, 2009.
